With the arrival of the new year comes show season. It’s that time of year, at least here in the Midwest, when winter has wrapped its cold fingers around us and cabin fever begins to creep in. Cures for cabin fever around here include fishing any remaining open water, traveling to a warmer location or partaking in some of the late season hunting for rabbits and coyotes. However one of my favorite ways of solving cabin fever jitters is attending one of the many shows that happen each year. Not only do I get to put my hands on the latest gear, but more importantly I have the chance to spend time with friends I only see once or twice a year. The first opportunity of the show season comes in the form of the Heartland Fly Fishing Festival.
This year the Heartland Fly Fishing Festival will again be held at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds in Lebanon, Indiana. A fairly new show being just a few years old, the festival is still relatively small but certainly has grown since it’s inception. There’s enough dealers, seminars and things to do to make it one of my favorite events each year.
The 2020 lineup of speakers/seminars looks to be a good one, as usual. Being a big fan of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota, I’m excited to see Larry Eastwick is going to give a talk on the area. Kevin Feenstra, one of the top fly fishing guides in the Midwest, will be giving a seminar as well. Kevin is always full of great information and you won’t want to miss that one. If you attend, be sure to stop by the Moving Water Outfitters booth and see the awesome deals they’ll have available too. Check out the full line up of vendors, speakers and seminars…as well as directions to the location…at heartlandflyfishingfestival.com I hope to see you there!
