The 8wt Fiasco
Welcome to The 8wt Fiasco, my little piece of the worldwide web. I created this blog simply as an outlet for my writing. Writing about the outdoors is something I love to do almost as much as actually being in the outdoors.
The blog will be a blend of stories…both true and not so true…gear talk, maybe some interviews and just my rambling in general. I have a vast array of hobbies including kayak fishing, fly fishing, camping, backpacking, bushcrafting and bowhunting with a longbow. Fly fishing is the one hobby that both mystifies and frustrates me the most. It’s a constant learning experience and every time I venture outside with fly rod in hand, I never know what to expect. While I plan to focus my adventures with a fly rod, I will no doubt write about many different topics as well. I’m the proverbial jack of all trades and master of none, so there should be a little bit here for everyone.
On a personal level, I sum myself up like this; God, my family, my labrador retriever and the outdoors. In that order too. I’ve been fishing since I was old enough to hold a rod and hunting since I was big enough to pull back a bow string. I love the tug of a fish on the end of a fly line and the flight of an arrow through the air. I love the sunrise through the trees while sitting in the October woods and I can’t imagine life without the sound of migrating geese coming in to decoys or the gobble of a tom turkey on a springtime morning. I can’t think of anything about the outdoors that doesn’t cause my heart to speed up a little bit. There’s just something about being in it and interacting with God’s creations that fills my soul.
With that all being said, again, welcome to The 8wt Fiasco. I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I enjoy sharing it with you.
